To help your child learn a visual or performing art, the most important thing you can tell your child when they ask "Why do I have to learn a visual or performing art? When am ever going to use this?" is "You may never use it, but that's not the point. You need to learn it because learning it will create college, career and scholarship opportunities for you that you may want later." Repeat it as often as necessary. And then require that they learn whatever visual or performing art their teacher is asking them to learn.
