Academic Support and Tutoring

SBCUSD is committed to making sure students receive the best academic preparation possible. To do that, teachers and staff work with students where they are to get them the appropriate help and support they need to reach the next level. For students who have fallen behind, support is available at the site, district and community levels--as well as online--to help students catch back up. For students who are ready for a challenge above and beyond the normal curriculum, opportunities exist for students in SBCUSD's Advanced Learners program to pursue their academic and personal passions through formal and informal paths, including self study.

Resources—In District

Whether students are trying to catch up or running ahead, the best place to start is at the student's school, with the student's teacher(s). If resources are not available on site, the district may have special programs and opportunities for students elsewhere to meet particular needs.

SBCUSD has specifically created its academic support programs and services to meet the needs of students at each level and grade of their education. The elementary level aims at building a solid academic foundation and a wide range of personal and social skills. The middle school level aims at filling in any academic gaps and preparing students for the advanced levels they will need to reach in high school to be college and career ready. The high school level aims at making sure students develop a clear college and career plan so they are fully ready for the next step in their life--whether going directly to work, taking advantage of the many available training opportunities, or continuing their education at the community college or university level.

Resources—Community and Online
While school sites handle most of the programs and services to support students academically, many valuable resources available are available online or in the community.
