The first thing students and families need to know about scholarships is that applying for scholarships generally happens at the end of junior year/beginning of senior year, but preparing to earn scholarships should happen at least at the beginning of middle school.

The largest scholarships go the most talented and highest-performing students and are generally given by the colleges to which a student is accepted. So, starting at the beginning of middle school, students and families should begin researching the scholarships at the colleges they are interested in and the level students need to reach to get them.

In general, the higher the level of talent and academic performance, the better chance a student has.
