San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) is proud to offer free, quality before- and after-school programs for students, regardless of their family income level. The public is welcome to learn more about these programs during a special Sunrise/CAPS Expanded Learning Showcase on Thursday, August 18.
Select Sunrise/CAPS students will be in front of the school to showcase some of the fun activities children can participate in and parents will have a chance to get information about the programs. Students will be showing off their ballet folklorico and cheerleading moves while CAPS staff will be passing out information. The Showcase begins August 18 at 7:30–8:30 a.m. with the Sunrise before-school program at Henry Elementary School, 1250 West 14th Street in San Bernardino. It continues at 3 p.m. with CAPS Expanded Learning at Roosevelt Elementary School, 1554 North Garner Avenue in San Bernardino.
“It’s a chance for our families and the community at large to receive more information about what San Bernardino Unified is doing to support students academically, socially, and physically and how we are helping families financially by providing quality before- and after-school care for all children,” said CAPS Expanded Learning Director Ann Pearson.
CAPS Expanded Learning is offered every school day at every SBCUSD school from the end-of-school bell until 6 p.m., meaning start times range from just after lunch for morning TK and kindergarten students to 3:30 p.m. for other elementary school grades. Students in transitional kindergarten (TK) through high school are eligible for the after-school program.
Sunrise is offered every school day from 7:15 a.m. until breakfast at every District elementary school. Afternoon TK and kindergarten students can participate in Sunrise from 7:15 a.m. until lunch.
