The public is invited to meet District Police officers and personnel during National Night Out at Davidson Elementary School on Tuesday, August 7 starting at 5 p.m.

The event is an opportunity for District police officers to spend an evening interacting with the community. The campaign was started in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch, according to the association’s website.

“We hope to see many families and children come out to meet our dedicated officers and learn valuable information about how we carry out our mission to keep our 49,000 students safe,” said Sgt. John Guttierez, an event organizer. “This is an important part of our commitment to build positive and trusting relationships with the people we serve.”

Tuesday’s event is free and runs from 5 to 9 p.m. at Davidson Elementary, 2844 Davidson Avenue in San Bernardino. There will be food, beverages, and activities for children. For more information, please call (909) 388-6030.
