COVID-19 Vaccine and Flu Shot Clinic
SBCUSD and Health Net are partnering to offer free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines and flu shots to everyone ages 5 and up. The
clinic is at the Professional Development Center, 4030 Georgia Blvd. in San Bernardino, on Monday, December 6 from 2:30–6:30 p.m., while supplies last. Register at myturn.ca.gov by searching for NHC Professional

Winter Break
All District schools are closed from December 20, 2021, to January 7, 2022, for the winter break. Friday, December 17 is a teacher work day and
classes will not be in session. Students return to school on Monday, January 10, 2022.
Winter Break Grab ‘N’ Go
We’re happy to announce that SBCUSD will hold two Grab ‘N’ Go meal distributions during the winter break.
Students and children from birth to age 18 can receive Grab ‘N’ Go breakfast and lunch from 9 to 11 a.m. at eight Grab ‘N’ Go sites across the District. Grab ‘N’ Go sites will provide 10 days’ worth of breakfast and lunch per child on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, and 5 days’ worth of meals on Tuesday, January 4, 2021. See the map for more details.

Application Window Opens Next Week for Signature Programs
SBCUSD is committed to giving families educational choices that meet children’s special
interests.
We offer various special programs for elementary school students that focus on environmental education, dual language immersion, visual and performing arts, and more.
Families who want their elementary school children to participate in one of SBCUSD’s Signature Programs can apply starting December 6. Applications will be available at every elementary school in the District and online
and must be received by the Enrollment and Placement Services office no later than 4 p.m. on January 19, 2022.
Among the popular Signature Programs are the Dual Language Immersion Program at Bonnie Oehl Elementary School. Students receive academic instruction in English for part of the school day and Spanish for the remainder of the school
day with the goal of promoting bilingualism and biliteracy for both native Spanish speakers and native English speakers.
The Trilingual Immersion Program at Belvedere Elementary School is similar to the Dual Language Immersion Program, with instruction provided in both Spanish and English. Students will also have Vietnamese-language instruction
for 10 percent of the day with the goal that students will be fluent in both English and Spanish and conversational in Vietnamese.
The Accelerated Kindergarten program, offered at Bradley, Kimbark, North Park, Ramona-Alessandro, Roosevelt, and Salinas Elementary Schools, offers a full-day kindergarten for children who demonstrate developmental maturity and
advanced academic skills. Critical-thinking, problem-solving, and emergent reading skills are assessed prior to enrollment.
The Creative & Performing Arts program at Salinas Elementary School incorporates art, theatre, dance, and instrumental and choral music instruction into the school curriculum. The Fine Arts Signature Program is offered at
Palm Avenue Elementary School and includes instruction in music, dance, drama, and visual arts through an artist-in-residence program.
SANKOFA is a culturally responsive, brain-based academic program that teaches the same California standards as other public schools but in a way that is designed to create excellence for African-American students, as well as
other interested students.
