Positive Ticket Program

The San Bernardino City School Police Department (SBCUSD PD) Positive Ticket Program is a partnership between community organizations and local businesses that allows the SBCUSD Police Department to reward positive behavior captured by officers and issued a “Ticket” for FREE or discounted:

  • Meals

  • Merchandise

  • Movie tickets

  • Entrance to local event / activity

The Positive Ticket concept was first introduced by Ward Clapham, a 28-year retired veteran of the Royal Mounted Police in Richmond, Canada; based on the simple philosophy that recognizing and rewarding good behavior will inspire and motivate greater good behavior.

The results: Youth recidvicism was reduced from 60% to 8% overall crime was  reduced by 40%

The cost:      one tenth of the traditional judicial system.

It is our goal and objective to strengthen the rapport between our Law Enforcement personnel and our community’s youth by working in conjunction with SBCUSD Police Department Programs such as Restorative Justice, Positive Behavior Support System, and Youth Court to promote an overall positive change within our schools and communities.

Additionally, we aim to reduce the overall crime rate, build positive relationships, and a stronger community to keep youth out of trouble, courts, and focused on education.
