Health Aide Services

Our health aides play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our students. By providing essential health support, they help create a positive and nurturing school environment where every student can thrive.

Health Aide Responsibilities

First Aid and Emergency Response

  • Administer first aid and basic care for minor injuries or illnesses.
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and follow established emergency procedures.
  • Notify parents/guardians and school staff about student health concerns as needed.

Health Monitoring and Assistance

  • Monitor students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies).
  • Assist with administering prescribed medications following district policies and parental consent.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for all students.
  • Document daily health office visits, treatments provided, and medication administration.
  • Assist with state-mandated health screenings and reporting.

Health Education and Promotion

  • Support the implementation of health and wellness initiatives aligned with SBCUSD’s SHINES vision.
  • Provide basic health education to students on hygiene, nutrition, and preventative care.
  • Collaborate with families to promote healthy lifestyles and connect them with resources.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with school nurses, administrators, teachers, and counselors to address student health needs.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and community health resources.
  • Assist with referrals to outside healthcare providers when necessary.
