Christopher Danforth, Program Specialist

Christopher joined the Student Wellness & Support Services department in July 2024 as a Program Specialist. He currently oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of School-Based Health Centers within San Bernardino City Unified School District. Christopher is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 3 years of experience providing mental health services for students and families. He started his career in Maine as a public school clinician specializing in trauma systems therapy for refugees, and eventually transitioned into the role of a special education school social worker. He is passionate about the work of SBHCs and is continuously striving to provide the best care for students and families in the great community of San Bernardino. When not at work, he enjoys traveling, going to concerts, and hanging out with family and friends.

Robert Harris, Program Specialist

Robert Harris serves as the wellness team lead and a key member of the school-based health center team. Holding both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work, along with a PPSC credential in Social Work and Child Welfare, Robert brings extensive expertise in promoting student well-being. In his role, Robert focuses on fostering a holistic approach to wellness that addresses the mental, emotional, and social needs of students. He collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to provide integrated support through the school-based health centers, ensuring students and families have access to essential resources and services. Through his leadership, Robert is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that prioritizes wellness and equips students for lifelong success.

Chris Caston, Program Specialist

Chris Caston is a Program Specialist and Social Worker with the Student Wellness & Support Services department. He provides critical support to K-12 schools within his assigned cluster and collaborates with the wellness and counseling project teams to promote student well-being and ensure access to essential services. As a member of the wellness team, Chris works to remove barriers to care by coordinating services such as immunizations, hearing, vision, and dental screenings, sports physicals, and mental health support. His efforts support a holistic approach to student health, enabling every child to thrive academically and personally. In partnership with the counseling team, Chris fosters cross-department collaboration to equip staff with the tools and resources needed to address Tier 2 student needs. His dedication to bridging services and promoting teamwork is instrumental in meeting the diverse needs of students across the district. Through his work, Chris helps create an inclusive and supportive environment where all students can succeed in school and beyond.

Diane Lopez, Program Specialist

Diane joined the Student Wellness & Support Services department in July 2024 as a Program Specialist. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional, providing vital therapeutic services to students within SBCUSD. Diane has extensive experience as a Bilingual Crisis Counselor at the Suicide Prevention Center, a therapist in community mental health, and in private practice specializing in trauma-informed care for children and adolescents. With over a decade in the mental health field, she is passionate about empowering young people to reach their full potential. Outside of work, Diane enjoys dancing to cumbias, exploring local coffee and boba shops, and spending time with friends and family.

Lydia Nafate, Bilingual Clerk II

Lydia joined the Student Wellness and Support Services Department in April 2024 as a Bilingual Clerk II. She is a contributing member of the Wellness Project team, where she utilizes her bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English to support the diverse needs of our students and families. As a parent of children enrolled in SBCUSD, she has a deep personal connection to the district’s mission, and a strong commitment to student success. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, exploring new places, traveling, taking road trips, and going to the movies.Her passion for service, combined with her diverse professional background, allows Lydia to make a postive impact on the well-being of our students and the broader SBCUSD community.
