Programs and Components

Formerly known as CAPS, Expanded Learning, a department of San Bernardino City Unified School District, Student Services Division, is the before and after school program for the school district. Expanded Learning is committed to providing children in our communities with high quality, no-cost expanding learning programs and opportunities beyond the traditional school day that enable them to build academic skills and strengths, grow socially and personally, discover their independence and self-worth, explore interests  and talents in a safe and supervised environment, encounter new and exciting experiences, engage in their communities and their world, and reach their full potential in school and in life.

Expanded Learning currently offers the following opportunities:
● Sunrise and After-School Programs through ASES, 21st Century, ASSETS funding, and ELOP
● Middle School Sports
● Connect2Summer Programs

Expanded Learning is funded through a voter-approved grant and supported by matching funds from the San Bernardino City Unified School District. Expanded Learning provides no-cost before and after school expanded learning programs for children attending Kindergarten through twelfth grade students throughout the San Bernardino City School District.
