Expanded Learning Programs are available to all SBCUSD students in grades TK–12.

  • After School (CAPS): Programs operate daily from the dismissal bell until 6:00 p.m.

  • Before School (Sunrise): Programs run from 7:00 a.m. until breakfast at middle and high schools, and from 7:15 a.m. until breakfast at elementary schools.


 
The vision of Expanded Learning is to provide exemplary before and after-school experiences that will enhance each student's academic, social, emotional and physical development. Programs include a daily snack, homework time, and academic/recreational/enrichment activities. 

Goals

  • Promote academic achievement in curricular areas
  • Increase daily student attendance rates
  • Reduce student suspension and expulsion rates
  • Develop both positive student behavior and cooperative social skills
