Employment Application Process

Filling out an Application

Application Materials

Application materials and copies of complete Employment Opportunity Announcements for each vacancy area are available during regular business hours in the Personnel Commission Office (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday). A complete listing of current job openings is also available via our 24-hour job hotline (909) 888-9955.

Submitting Your Application

Applications are accepted for current job openings only. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of a District application. All recruitments have a closing time of 4 p.m. on the closing date indicated on the Employment Opportunity Announcement.

PROOF OF REQUIRED EDUCATION IN THE FORM OF COPIES OF HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, GED CERTIFCATE, COLLEGE DEGREES OR TRANSCRIPTS (OFFICIAL OR UNOFFICIAL) MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION.

SBCUSD employees who have a copy of their proof of education in their official District personnel file will need to resubmit copies of these documents, with employment applications.

Selection and Openings

The Selection Process

After a position closes, all applications are screened and qualifying applicants are invited for the testing process. As positions open, interviews will be set up according to the applicant's ranking on the eligibility list.

For continuous positions, applications are reviewed continuously until a suitable applicant pool is identified or the positions are filled. Occasionally, the final filing may be changed to continuous or extended when a larger applicant pool is required.

Inquiries

Inquiries about specific positions may be submitted in writing, or in person at the Personnel Commission Office.

Bulletins

The Employment Opportunities Bulletin is published as recruitments are opened. A list of current openings are posted in the lobby area of the Board of Education.

The 24-hour job line and website are updated as positions open and/or close.

Testing Accommodations

Overview

The District will make every effort possible to ensure that all applicants compete on an equal level.

Applicants with disabilities may request testing accommodations if required. The Testing Reasonable Accommodations Request Form is attached to the bottom of the District Application Form.

Because each position has a job-related test process, evaluation of the applicant may be different for each position. To give District personnel adequate opportunity to evaluate each case, and to arrange for accommodations, the form must be submitted during the open recruitment process.
