Employee Relations

DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Advise Administrators regarding disciplinary matters, documentation and employee rights.
  • Catastrophic Sick Leave Request
  • Management On-Boarding
  • Create and disseminate District forms and bulletins to site.
  • Assist sites with court order interpretation, Student/Parent rights and custody matters. 
  • Placement of employee on administrative leave with or without pay.
  • Workshops for Managers: FRISK Writing, Employee Intervention Process, How to Conduct an Investigation and Title IX.
  • Fitness for Duty
  • Investigate employees request for leave that may be misuse for leave.
  • Subpoenas for the District and employee records.
  • Attend disciplinary meetings with administrators as needed.
  • Assist with CSEA problem solving. 
  • Employee discipline investigations. 
  • Assist sites regarding unsatisfactory performance of employees. 
  • Assistance to sites with response with Level I Grievance.
  • Level II and Level III (Arbitration)
  • Research Education Code, Labor Code, Government Code, Penal Code etc. to assist with employment related issues.
  • Contract interpretation for CSEA, SBTA, POA, CWA.

 

LITIGATION MANAGEMENT

  • Assist Assistant Superintendent oversee litigation arising out of property and liability claims review and forward to SCSRM-JPA when appropriate.
  • Provide attorneys with Settlement Authority on behalf of Assistant Superintendent.
  • Attend mediations, Arbitrations and court trials for claims litigation filed against the District. 

 

LABOR LAW

  • Order and prepare new Labor Law Posters on an annual basis for distribution to all school sites and district locations.
