World Languages

Information

The Department of Foreign Language supports teachers as they aid students in the acquisition of a second language. Studying a foreign language allows students to sharpen their intellectual skills, increase their financial security and broaden their understanding of other cultures. As we move toward a global economy, opportunities for students to access a world marketplace increase as they become proficient in a second language. Increased jobs in government and private sector offer students an opportunity to change cultural and economic barriers. Academically, students who study a second language succeed in their core classes and ultimately become prepared for life and for the career opportunities offered in the 21st Century.

The Department of Foreign Language offers support to the secondary schools of the District in the area of foreign language.

These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Curriculum
  • Assessment
  • Program evaluation

  • Textbook adoption

The Department also collaborates with other District departments as areas or responsibilities overlap.
