School Site Council (SSC)

The School Site Council (SSC) is a decision-making body that represents all stakeholders of the school community. The school principal, teachers, other personnel, parents, and students (secondary level) make up the council. The SSC's primary responsibility is to identify common goals and work collaboratively with the site leadership team to establish a plan that will help achieve these goals. A successful SSC depends on good working relationships among all members of the council.

SSC's operate under Education Code and policy direction of the Board of Education. Additionally, as the school leadership team and SSC develop, implement, monitor, evaluate, and revise the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), the SSC allocates resources to support the plan. The plan is submitted to the Board of Education for approval.

The partners work together to make sure that each school site's plan aligns with
district plans, and focuses resources upon improvement strategies that help all
students reach high standards and achieve success.
