Equitable Services to Private Schools
Eligible private schools located within the geographic attendance boundaries of the San Bernardino City Unified School District are given the option of participating in equitable services for private school students under Title I, Part A. Title I, Part A provides assistance to students who are determined as having difficulty meeting grade level standards by objective, educationally-related criteria.
Funding for services is allocated according to a formula based on the number and addresses of low income private school students who reside in the attendance area of the San Bernardino City Unified School District. Every spring, the district administers family income surveys to determine the program.
Services are planned and provided through meaningful consultation with private school officials. Together, district personnel and private school officials determine services that best meet the needs of participating children. Services may include before or after school tutoring, small group instruction, computer assisted instruction, or supplemental instruction with enhanced classroom materials.
Additionally, the district provides participating private school teachers and principals with services under Title II of the Every Students Succeeds Act. The services provide training and professional development opportunities toward the objective of developing highly qualified teachers and principals.
All equitable services under the Every Students Succeeds Act are secular, neutral, and non-ideological. All goods and materials, used for equitable services for private schools, are the property of the district.
