Accelerated Kindergarten/Vanguard Program

Accelerated Kindergarten classes are designed to address the needs of students beginning kindergarten with a strong foundation in early literacy and numeracy skills predictive of future academic success. The classes are full-day programs taught by GATE certified teachers, though this is not a formal GATE program.

Students are tested upon parent request and must be enrolled in the San Bernardino City Unified School District prior to testing. Testing takes place each spring for enrollment the following school year. If you are interested in having your child participate in the Accelerated Kindergarten program, please complete an application using the link below. Applications must be submitted by March 15 to test for the following school year.

Accelerated Kindergarten Application

Students from the Accelerated Kindergarten program typically progress to the Vanguard program for grades one through three. Additional students wishing to participate can be tested upon parent request or teacher recommendation. Testing takes place each summer for enrollment the following school year, dependent on space availability in the program.
