Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a school principal—or wanted a closer look at the opportunities San Bernardino City Unified School District provides for students?

Principal for a Day invites community members to step inside an SBCUSD school, spend time alongside a principal and experience firsthand the teaching, learning and leadership taking place across our District.

About the Experience

During Principal for a Day, participants will have an opportunity to:

  • Shadow an SBCUSD principal
  • Visit classrooms and campus programs
  • Meet students, teachers and staff
  • Learn about the responsibilities of school leadership
  • See how SBCUSD supports student achievement and well-being
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities available to students

Principal for a Day is an immersive community engagement experience. Participants will observe and learn alongside a principal but will not assume the principal’s responsibilities or decision-making authority.

Who May Apply?

Principal for a Day is open to community members who are not currently employed by or enrolled in SBCUSD.

Current District employees and students are not eligible to participate.

Application and Selection Process

Space is limited, and all applications are subject to a screening and approval process. Selected participants will be matched with a school by the District based on program needs.

Please note:

  • Requests for specific schools cannot be accommodated.
  • Submitting an application does not guarantee participation.
  • Selected applicants will receive additional details from the District.
