Employee Development Staff Awards

TO LIVE AND LET LIVE, WITHOUT CLAMOUR FOR DISTINCTION OR RECOGNITION; . . . TO WRITE TRUTH FIRST ON THE TABLET OF ONE'S OWN HEART - THIS IS THE SANITY AND PERFECTION OF LIVING, AND MY HUMAN IDEAL.
--MARY BAKER EDDY

You are invited to be part of Employee Development Department Awards nomination process!  You get to choose the people who you feel are most deserving of these awards. Choose wisely and have fun!

WHAT ARE THE AWARDS BASED ON?
The awards reflect our department's values and desired culture. Behaviors called out in the awards have been identified as being essential to the Employee Development Department's department's mission and vision.

WHAT'S THE POINT OF THE AWARDS?
1) Recognize our staff in fun, unique, and meaningful ways.
2) Reward people for demonstrating or enhancing our core values and performance goals.
3) Encourage people to want to be future award winners.
4) Capture stories of building our desired culture in order to remind us of our purpose and teach others what is valued in our district.
5) Encourage people to use their creative skills in making and presenting the awards.
6) Establish a ritual to build the quality education tradition in our department.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO WIN?
All certificated and classified employees are eligible to nominate and be nominated.

WHAT CRITERIA DETERMINE WHO WINS?
The criteria for winning an award are:
(1) How supportive the behavior described in the nomination(s) is of our values and desired culture, and
(2) The number of nominations for a nominee per award category

WHO IS MANAGING THE AWARDS PROCESS?
The EDD Awards Committee will review all of the nominations and identify finalists and winners for each award category. All EDD staff members members can nominate candidates. The Awards Committee will consider both the quality of the behaviors in the nominations as well as the number of nominations. The Awards Committee will review all of the nominations and for each award category. The awards will be hand made and presented by EDD staff members.

HOW SHOULD YOU COMPLETE YOUR NOMINATIONS?
1) Review the awards on the NOMINATE page.
2) Remember key performances by coworkers throughout the 2017-18 school year. Review your calendar/day-timer/planner, newsletters, memos, or files for this school year.
3) Complete as many online nominations as you would like. You can nominate multiple people per award category if you choose; just be sure to input one nomination per individual.

Remember, even if a nominee doesn't make the finalist list or win the award, it is still an honor to have a colleague take the time to document a nomination. Every person who is nominated for an award will be notified when the nomination is submitted.

WHEN WILL NOMINATIONS OCCUR AND AWARDS BE GIVEN OUT?
Nominations can be made from April 30th to May 14th. The awards ceremony will be on June 8th at the EDD Retreat. The Demonstration Teacher of the Year award will be given out on June 12th at the Demo Retreat.

HOW CAN WE BEST ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER IN THIS PROCESS?
First of all, be sure to take the time to submit meaningful nominations for as many of your colleagues as you can. There is no such thing as too much encouragement!

Second, be on the lookout to catch others doing something right. Develop your habit of looking for the good in others and encourage their behavior.

Third, go out of your way to learn about the successes of colleagues you don't normally work closely with. Ask others about them. Take a different route throughout the day to take notice of others.

Fourth, don't hesitate to recognize others a second time. Be sure to check out "The Nominations" page on a regular basis to keep track of who has received a nomination. Give them a pat on the back or a Good Job!
