As we are adapting to the new challenges brought forth by COVID-19, we wanted to reassure our community and all of our stakeholders that SBCUSD is committed to supporting student with disabilities during this difficult time.

The Special Education Department has collaborated with Educational Services to ensure that all of our students have equal access to distance learning. Special Education family partners, you will be receiving a prior written notice that will outline the details of your specialized services along with resource page. Your teachers and service providers will be reaching out soon to speak with you about your specific services.

Overview
Special education refers to a range of educational and social services provided by the public school system and other educational institutions to individuals with disabilities who are between birth and 21 years of age.

Special education is designed to ensure that students with disabilities are provided with an environment that allows them to be educated effectively. ​
