Transitional Kindergarten Enrollment Fair
The District is hosting a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Open Enrollment Fair on Saturday, March 19, 9 a.m. to 12 noon, at Jones Elementary School, 700 North F Street in San Bernardino. Children who will
turn 5 years old between September 2, 2022, and February 2, 2023, are eligible for transitional kindergarten. TK is an opportunity for students who are too young to enroll in kindergarten to have access to a quality,
free education.
Nominate a Student for a STEM Award
The 74, a non-profit news site covering education in America, is accepting nominations for its 16 Under 16 in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). The 74 is looking to identify 16 of the most impressive
students in the United States who are 16 years of age or younger who have shown extraordinary achievement in STEM-related activities. The winners will be profiled at The74million.org.
Submission deadline is Sunday, March 20, 2022. View the full criteria and submit a nomination here.
Spring Break
District schools are closed from Monday, March 21, 2022, through Friday, April 1, 2022, for Spring Break. Schools will reopen and classes will resume on Monday, April 4, 2022.
Middle College High School (MCHS) and Inland Career Education Center (ICEC) students have a single week of Spring Break from Monday, March 21 through Friday, March 25. MCHS and ICEC will reopen and resume classes
on Monday, March 28.

Spring Break Grab ‘N’ Go Meals
To make sure no SBCUSD student goes hungry, Nutrition Services is offering Grab ‘N’ Go Meals during Spring Break at eight locations. Meals are available to every child, from birth to
age 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022. Grab ‘N’ Go sites will provide 10 days’ worth of breakfast and lunch per child. For more information, call (909) 881-8000 or visit www.sbcusd.com/meals.

Optional Student & Staff Drive-Thru COVID Testing Opportunity
As a precautionary measure, SBCUSD is offering convenient, optional, drive-thru COVID-19 testing for all students and staff on Wednesday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following locations:
This testing is for asymptomatic (not experiencing COVID-19 symptoms) SBCUSD students and staff only.

Safe Routes to School
SBCUSD hosted a Walk To School Day/Safe Routes to School Kickoff event on Thursday, March 17 in front of Hillside Elementary Demonstration School. This event promoted safe routes to schools that encourage students to walk to
school to improve physical activity and reduce emissions.
School Calendar Survey
SBCUSD needs your input for the 2023–24 and 2024–25 school year calendars. The Calendar Committee will review the results and provide a recommendation to the Board of Education. Please complete this survey now through Friday, April 8, 2022.
March Reading Challenge
There is still time to participate in this month’s reading challenge. Families are encouraged to visit the Literacy Campaign website and join #SBCUSDReads! In March, we encourage children to read about the topic of compassion.
