Future in Focus

Quick tips, brief updates, and reminders about what’s coming up to help families, employees, and our community make the most of our schools.

COVID-19 Testing Coming to Schools
Starting September 1, SBCUSD will be offering free, on-site COVID-19 testing for students and staff at all schools across the District.
Self-swab testing is available with parent consent for all District students. For more information about school-based testing, please contact your child’s school COVID-19 liaison, who can be reached by calling the school office.

Wearing is Caring
SBCUSD reminds families that all students must wear a face covering while indoors. So be sure your child leaves home with a face covering and consider putting an extra one in their backpack just in case. Each SBCUSD student received five washable face coverings at the start of the school year.

SBCUSD Releases COVID-19 Dashboard
SBCUSD is now providing daily updates on coronavirus cases reported on campus through a COVID-19 online dashboard.
The dashboard provides the total number of active confirmed COVID-19 cases identified among staff and students participating in in-person instruction and activities on SBCUSD campuses.
SBCUSD is committed to providing accurate, timely, and transparent information regarding COVID-19 cases on our campuses, while also maintaining privacy and confidentiality for our students and staff. As of Friday, August 27, the dashboard reported 123 active student cases and 20 staff cases, for a total of 144 across more than 70 schools. All active cases are isolated while monitoring symptoms and awaiting PCR test results and therefore do not pose any ongoing threat of spread to others attending schools.
Dashboard figures may not match the number of notifications sent by a specific school. Notifications are sent when a positive test is reported to a school site, while the data dashboard will be updated based on official confirmation of COVID-19 status following further investigation. Data may change based on results of thorough contact tracing, additional testing,  and completed quarantines.
The dashboard shows Districtwide information. Visitors may filter down the data to display information for a specific geographic region and/or specific schools or for students/staff only. To change the display use the drop down menus below each filter to select the information you want to see.  When a selection is made the number in the chart will show only the information related to the area, school, or population selected.

Better Together. Welcome Home. Reminder
If your child or anyone in your child’s household is suspected of having COVID-19, is awaiting test results, or tests positive for COVID-19, please keep your child at home and notify the school office.
