For the first time in the school’s history, Arroyo Valley High School (AVHS) has made it to the CIF finals.
The AVHS Hawks beat top-seeded Hesperia Christian 3-0 in the CIF Southern Section Division 7 semifinal game, meaning the team advances to the finals against Lancaster on Friday, June 18, 10 am., at Blair Field in Long Beach.
Blair Field will also be host to the Cajon High School Cowboys on Friday at 2 p.m. for the CIF Southern Section Division 5 finals.
“San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) is proud to have two schools advance to the CIF finals in baseball,” said Ginger Ontiveros, executive director of Community Engagement/Communications/Community Relations.“These athletes are especially deserving considering the unusual circumstances they faced on the field and in the classroom during the COVID crisis.”
