Future in Focus

Quick tips, brief updates, and reminders about what’s coming up to help families, employees, and our community make the most of our schools.

Virtual Learning Academy Header

Deadline for Virtual Academy is Sunday, June 6
Families interested in keeping their students in a virtual learning environment for the coming school year have until June 6 to enroll children in the Virtual Academy, a great alternative to in-person instruction. This new academy focuses on supporting our students in all grades who choose to learn in an online learning environment rather than in our traditional school setting. It’s a great option for students who found they thrive in a virtual learning environment. To participate in the Virtual Academy, families must log into and select it through the Aeries Parent Portal by the June 6 deadline.

Meal Distribution Update
Starting Wednesday, June 9, SBCUSD will distribute meals to students and children age 18 and younger on Wednesdays from 8 to 11 a.m. at these schools:

  • Cajon High
  • Del Vallejo STEAM Academy
  • Golden Valley Middle
  • Indian Springs High
  • King Middle
  • Lincoln Elementary
  • Pacific High
  • Muscoy Elementary

Summer School Starts Monday
Summer school starts June 7 for elementary and secondary students. Even if your child is not attending summer school, there are ways to keep them engaged in learning by:
  • Visiting a local museum or library
  • Taking a hike and noting what flowers and animals you see along the way
  • Checking your local parks and recreation department for free or low-cost activities

Kindergarten Enrollment
Kindergarten enrollment is now underway. Children born between September 2, 2015, and September 1, 2016, are eligible for kindergarten. You can enroll your incoming kindergartner by calling the Enrollment Center at (909) 891-1010.

Children who did not make the cut off date to start kindergarten are eligible to enroll in Transitional Kindergarten if their fifth birthday is between September 2 and December 2.
