2018 Superintendent's Summer Graduation

On Wednesday, July 22, San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) staff and families will honor the 150 seniors who put forth the extra effort and spent the added hours to focus on their education during the summer so they could graduate with the Class of 2020.

“These seniors not only had to face the challenges of COVID and distance learning, they had their own, personal challenges to overcome,” said Secondary Education Director Sudha Venkatesan, “but they were willing to put in the work and make the sacrifices to earn their high school diploma.”

Although commencement ceremonies have looked very different in 2020, SBCUSD is determined to make sure that these students, like other graduates in the Class of 2020, receive the pomp and circumstance that they deserve to acknowledge their 13 years of attending class, studying, and completing homework.

“Congratulations to the Class of 2020 and especially to the students in the Superintendent’s Summer Graduation program,” said Secondary Education program specialist Bob Kirby. “We are proud of your accomplishment.”

The drive-thru graduation will be held at San Gorgonio High School starting at 11:30 a.m. Graduates have been asked to arrive at designated times with their families. Families and guests must remain inside the vehicle at all times, and all graduates must wear a mask or face covering to comply with health advisories and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
