Welcome site visit team! This page will give you some background information about our district and program.

The SBCUSD Teacher Induction Program (TIP) continues to be a mentoring program that provides teachers with a mentor who meets with them at least one hour per week. The new program design ensures that all meetings are guided by the program processes found in the teacher's Individual Learning Plan (ILP).pdf which is a road map of the teacher's growth and development during each year they are in the program. At each meeting, the mentor chooses the mentoring tool s/he will use dependent on the teacher's needs and where they are in the inquiry cycle. At the end of each conversation, the mentor asks the teacher to record new learnings on their ILP while the mentor captures the conversation on their mentoring tool. At the end of the meeting, the mentor and teacher revisit the focus standard and add new evidence of their teaching practice to the Continuum of Teaching Practice. Progress and improvement in students learning is measured at the beginning (September and February) and end (December and May) of each inquiry cycle with the flexibility to continue with the same goals into the next inquiry cycle if needed. In addition, mentors are encouraged to guide teachers through three cycles of the Plan, Teach, Reflect Apply process but one cycle is acceptable dependent on the individual needs of the teacher. All documentation is housed in the teachers' Program Folder in google drive which is shared with the teacher, the mentor and the lead mentor.
