Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year!
A new school year is an exciting opportunity for students to learn, grow and succeed, and we're looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the San Bernardino City Unified School District! To help your family prepare for a smooth and successful start, we've gathered important back-to-school information and resources all in one place. Please review the items below to ensure your student is ready for the first day of school. We can't wait to partner with you for another outstanding year of learning!
2026-2027 Student/Parent Handbook is now available!
As we prepare for another successful school year, we encourage all families to review the 2026–2027 SBCUSD Student/Parent Handbook, also known as the Annual Notification. The handbook is available in English and Spanish online.
This important resource outlines the rules, policies and regulations that help ensure a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all students. It also provides valuable information about student rights, responsibilities, District programs, safety procedures and other important topics that impact your child's educational experience.
We encourage every parent, guardian and student to review the handbook together to become familiar with District expectations and available resources as the school year begins.
2026–2027 Student Data Confirmation
Required for All SBCUSD Families
The San Bernardino City Unified School District is preparing for another successful school year, and we need your help!
Beginning July 2026, all families—both new and returning—must complete the Online Student Data Confirmation through the Aeries Parent Portal.
This annual process ensures we have your student's most up-to-date information and allows us to provide all legally required annual notifications.
Why Should I Complete Data Confirmation?
When you complete Data Confirmation, you help us:
- Keep emergency contacts up to date
- Verify your home address and contact information
- Update health information, medications, and allergies
- Review required annual notifications
- Complete required authorizations for your student's grade level
Most importantly, you'll continue to have access to important information in the Aeries Parent Portal throughout the school year. This information is also used to give parents access to the District's mass communications system, ParentSquare.
More Resources for Data Confirmation:
Stay Connected with SBCUSD using ParentSquare
To stay abreast of all the latest developments and information in SBCUSD and your child’s school, we encourage you to sign up for ParentSquare if you have not already by visiting parentsquare.com/signin and registering using the email address or phone number on file at your child’s school. For more information, please visit sbcusd.com/parentsquare.
Annual Authorizations
As part of Data Confirmation, families will also review and complete annual authorizations that apply to their student's grade level.
These may include:
- Student Technology Use Agreement
- Student Records (FERPA) Notifications
- Health Information
- Student Accident Insurance Information
- Grade-level specific forms and acknowledgements
The Aeries Parent Portal will automatically display only the forms that apply to your student.
Don't Skip the Income Survey
One of the most important steps in Data Confirmation is completing the Income Survey.
Why is this important? The information collected helps determine funding that directly supports your child's school. These funds help provide:
- Classroom materials
- Technology
- Academic support programs
- Student wellness services
- Enrichment opportunities
- Programs that benefit all students
Please take a few minutes to complete your Income Survey through ParentSquare by October 1, 2026. Every completed survey helps ensure your school receives the maximum funding available to support student success.
Creating Focused Learning Environments for Every Student
As we begin the new school year, SBCUSD has updated Board Policy 5131.8 – Mobile Communication Devices to align with California's Phones-Free Schools Act. While students may continue bringing mobile communication devices to school, their use during the instructional day will follow the updated policy to help reduce distractions, increase student engagement and support academic success. Families can learn more about the policy, implementation, frequently asked questions and available exceptions by visiting sbcusd.com/focus. Thank you for partnering with us to create positive, focused learning environments for every student.
