Mission Statement:
To utilize evidence-based violence prevention and intervention programs, to support schools, families and communities in making schools physically and emotionally safe.

           

Vision Statement:
“To empower all stakeholders in creating an emotionally safe school for students to connect and engage in pursuing academic success.”

 

WHO:

Success Team for At Risk Students (STARS) consists of 1 Program Specialist and 4 Itinerant Counselors.

WHAT: 

STARS counselors help build emotionally safe schools by using trauma-informed principles.

WHEN:

SBCUSD was awarded the Project Prevent Grant for the 2014-2015 school year. The grant concludes at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

HOW:

STARS Counselors provide supplemental school-based counseling in the form of staff development, evidence-based staff and student programs, group counseling and wraparound services.
