Positive Behavior Intervention and Support
What is Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBiS)?
PBiS is the behavior system that we are using at Muscoy Elementary. It is built on the idea that we can effectively teach appropriate behaviors to all students using positive language and interventions.
What behaviors are we teaching your students?
The core expectations of PBiS are: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe. Each area of our school has a set of rules that falls under those expectations. There are also 16 Survival Skills that are taught to increase the student's knowledge of how to handle situations that they will find themselves in the real world.
What incentives are being used at Muscoy?
When students are "caught" following the expectations, they are given blue Muscoy Motivators (M&Ms). Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday each teacher pulls an M&M. These students receive a prize and their M&M goes up on the Principal's 110% Club. The Principal's 110% Club is a poster with 100 blocks and when a row or column is filled, all of those students receive a very special surprise!
Can I use this system at home?
