Edison International Scholarship

Edison International kicked off its annual Edison Scholars Program on 10/1 and will be awarding 30 Southern California high school seniors with a $40,000 scholarship for their education at a 4-year college or university of their choice (in the United States). Last day to apply is February 1, 2016. A few scholarship requirements are listed below and I attached a flyer for your reference.

Eligibility Requirements for Edison Scholars:

Applicants must -

  • Be a high school senior with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent
  • Live in or attend a public or private high school in areas serviced by Southern California Edison (SCE) or attend an eligible high school in the designated area surrounding SCE's San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS)
  • Plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study in one of the following disciplines for the entire upcoming academic year:


a. Electrical Engineering

b. Mechanical Engineering

c. Civil Engineering

d. Computer Engineering

e. Industrial Engineering

f. Computer Sciences/Info System

g. Environmental Engineering

h. Environmental Sciences

The GMS 2016 Application will open on
August 1, 2015. To be eligible for the Gates Millennium Scholars Program students must:
  • Be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian American/Pacific Islander or Hispanic American;  
  • Be Citizens, legal permanent residents or nationals of the United States;
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or earned a GED;
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities;
  • Meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria;
  • Enroll for the first time at a U.S. located , accredited college or university (with the exception of students concurrently pursuing a high school diploma) in the fall as a full-time, degree seeking, first year student;
  • Have completed and submitted their application by the deadline; and
  • Have the following forms completed and submitted by the deadline on their behalf:
    • A Nominator Form-an evaluation of the student's academic record, and;
    • A Recommender Form- an evaluation of the student's community service and leadership  activities.
The deadline for applications for the next class of the Gates Millennium Scholars Program will be January 13, 2016.
