Greater Riverside Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

GRHCC will be awarding scholarships in $500 and $1,000 amounts. The $500 awards will be directed to students planning to enroll at a community college wtih a 2.5 GPA or higher. The $1,000 awards will be awarded to students who are pursuing a four-year college degree with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Proof of enrollment at a college/university will be required from selected scholarship recipients before disbursement of funds.

Eligibility: Must be enrolled in a community college and meet at least a 2.5 GPA requirement or plan to attend/pursue a four-year college or university or education and meet at least a 3.0 GPA.

Application Deadline: The deadline to apply is April 28, 2017 at 11 pm.

Notification: Selected applicants will be notified by July 2, 2017. A special recognition event will be held on July 21 to recognize the selected scholarship recipients; an invitation will be sent with the scholarship award notification.

Strong Women Strong Minds Scholarship - 2016-2017

Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority,
Incorporated is the nations first Latin sorority, established in 1975, with over 120 chapters across the United States. One focus of our organization is promoting higher education among women, in particular women of color, so that they may develop the skills and knowledge to become educated leaders.

This scholarship is open to women of all ethnicities and backgrounds regardless of citizenship status. Applicants must be high school seniors, in Southern California, who will be attending a four-year University of California or a California State University in the Fall of 2017.

Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale.
Proof of enrollment in school is due upon acceptance of the award

Scholarship recipients should be able to attend an acceptance dinner on May 27, 2017 at the University of California, Riverside.

Who: Scholar Athletes in the 2017 Graduating Class

What: Wendy's will be awarding 100 students from across the nation with $150,000 in scholarships.

Details: Wendy's is looking for scholar-athletes like last year's National Winner Frelicia Tucker, a tennis and track & field star who uses her work ethic and passion for excellence to inspire others and champion causes she believes in.

Since 1994 Wendy's has been partnering with the biggest name in college football, Heisman, to support education, recognize achievements, and celebrate students through the Wendy's High School Heisman.

Edison International Scholarship

Edison International kicked off its annual Edison Scholars Program on 10/1 and will be awarding 30 Southern California high school seniors with a $40,000 scholarship for their education at a 4-year college or university of their choice (in the United States). Last day to apply is February 1, 2016. A few scholarship requirements are listed below and I attached a flyer for your reference.

Eligibility Requirements for Edison Scholars:

Applicants must -

  • Be a high school senior with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent
  • Live in or attend a public or private high school in areas serviced by Southern California Edison (SCE) or attend an eligible high school in the designated area surrounding SCE's San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS)
  • Plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study in one of the following disciplines for the entire upcoming academic year:

 

a. Electrical Engineering

b. Mechanical Engineering

c. Civil Engineering

d. Computer Engineering

e. Industrial Engineering

f. Computer Sciences/Info System

g. Environmental Engineering

h. Environmental Sciences

The GMS 2016 Application will open on
August 1, 2015. To be eligible for the Gates Millennium Scholars Program students must:
  • Be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian American/Pacific Islander or Hispanic American;  
  • Be Citizens, legal permanent residents or nationals of the United States;
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or earned a GED;
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities;
  • Meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria;
  • Enroll for the first time at a U.S. located , accredited college or university (with the exception of students concurrently pursuing a high school diploma) in the fall as a full-time, degree seeking, first year student;
  • Have completed and submitted their application by the deadline; and
  • Have the following forms completed and submitted by the deadline on their behalf:
    • A Nominator Form-an evaluation of the student's academic record, and;
    • A Recommender Form- an evaluation of the student's community service and leadership  activities.
The deadline for applications for the next class of the Gates Millennium Scholars Program will be January 13, 2016.
