The following Websites can be used for additional information on child nutrition, My Plate Lesson Plans and Activities, Heart Disease, Diabetes, and other nutrition and health related issues.

Eat Right is the website for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, which is the national nutrition association for Registered Dietitians.  It offers fun games such as food Sudoku for older children and crossword puzzles for all ages.  Parents and educators can use this site as a resource to learn better nutrition choices, and get handouts and tips for nutrition lessons.  The site incorporates MyPlate from the USDA into some lessons.  Eat Right also has short quizzes to help assess the individuals current eating habits. Materials are provided in English and Spanish.

Choose MyPlate is from the USDA. MyPlate is the newest form of the food pyramid.  The focus of the site is to teach children about the different food groups, proper portion sizes and what should be eaten daily.  It is also interactive with games, recipes and intake trackers for the whole family.  The site encourages families to look into the sources of their foods, increase physical activity and improve weight management.

San Bernardino County’s web page is geared towards adults.  It offers information on the various programs offered in the county and state. Information for increasing physical activity, such as different types, locations, classes and events are also included.

Let’s Move is supported by the White House and is geared towards children and their parents.  The site encourages more movement, as well as better nutrition by providing resources and guidelines that show people what the national goals are.

Nourish Interactive consists of games and educational materials for children (ages 5-13 years old), parents and educators.  It partners with Core 5 and medical professionals, such as Registered Dietitians and Physicians to provide up to date and sound information.  The site uses games to teach simple nutrition lessons to children, provides parents with recipes and tips to get their child to eat better, and features a blog full of nutrition information.  Some materials provided in English and Spanish.

The Cooperative Extension San Bernardino is a program through the University of California system.  This chapter is specific to San Bernardino and provides information about the county.  The site is geared towards educators and offers materials free of charge, as well as information on starting clubs like 4-H.  Updates are listed for upcoming events and class (e.g., gardening)
