Palm Avenue Elementary School CAPS offers students a program that includes many enriching activities. Students are given homework assistance, physical fitness, and computer lab, along with many other activities including art, dance, and time to let their social skills grow. Our Youth Leaders are trained yearly in new programs and are all CPR, FIRST AID, and AED certified. Also, a nutritious snack is given daily.
We invite community speakers to talk to the students about careers that may interest them. This also gives students a chance to learn about our community and those who serve it. The upper grades will be exploring with Inventors Club where they take apart broken electronics and make new inventions or art projects with them.
Students have the opportunity to enjoy games that not only stimulate their creativity but, teach them lessons in Math and Language Arts. This also gives them the opportunity to expand friendships and learn about cooperation and social skills. The CAPS program supports the PBS principles and reinforces the lessons learned in the classroom.
CAPS is open every school day from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Students are required to attend every day until 6:00 p.m., unless they must leave early due to sports activities, a church program, or medical appointment. If you have any questions please call the school at 909-880-6753 or Palm CAPS at 909-771-5301 and ask for CAPS Lead, Tami Chavez.
Currently there is a waiting list for admittance to CAPS, but as students drop from the program, others are added from the waiting list.
