Welcome to the 2012-2013 School Year!
On behalf of the staff at Emmerton Elementary School, we want to express how excited we are to be entering this school year with you and your child! We are truly partners in the lives of our children and are pleased that Emmerton Elementary can become a lasting set of memories in the life of your child.
This will be my first year in serving as principal at Emmerton. I was pleased and honored to be named the principal as this was the very same school that I began teaching some years ago. As the principal of Emmerton, I can truly tell you that your child is in the right place. We will work very hard to give each child what they need from extra support to challenge and rigor. We want to work alongside the parent to make sure that each child is successful and that expectations are high both inside and outside of the classroom.
If you are looking for ways to get involved there are plenty of active parent groups such as the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) School Site Council (SSC), English Learners Advisory Council (ELAC), and our African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC). Volunteering is also important and is essential to helping teachers with things like reading with students and assembling homework packets.
You may use this website as a way to communicate with your child’s teacher or other school personnel. You will be kept up-to-date with activities and events that will be taking place with the school. Take some time to look through the site and visit often as it will be updated regularly.
I look forward to a GREAT school year and getting to know all of you and your children as we embark on a new school year. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
