The District's History / Social Science Program is a comprehensive curriculum provided for all District students.
It provides the guidelines for an instructional program that develops the District and State Content Standards, as well as provides instructional experiences that align with the California State History / Social Science Framework.
The central purpose of History / Social Science Education is to prepare students to be humane, rational, understanding, and participating citizens in a diverse society and in an increasingly interdependent world.
It is centered in a core of historical and geographical knowledge, integrating the social sciences and humanities, with an emphasis on ethics and democratic values.
It helps students to better understand themselves and others and to develop judgment, perception, civic pride, and responsibility.
