The campus security officer program of the San Bernardino City Unified School District Police Department is a very professional and well trained staff of fifty four dedicated employees. The high school campuses are staffed with five CSOs and the middle schools are staffed with two CSOs.
The campus security officers go through an extensive background process including:
- Written examination
- Physical agility test
- Polygraph examination
- Extensive background examination
- Medical examination
Once these candidates have met the hiring standards they participate in a six week training program on one of our comprehensive high schools.
The CSOs are trained and certified in:
- Verbal judo skills
- Report writing
- First aid / CPR
- ASP baton
- Customer service
- Bike Patrol
At the completion of the six week training program, the probationary employees must pass an extensive exam to ensure their knowledge for the position.
