Accelerate Student Achievement Plan (ASAP)
ASAP aims to boost student learning by focusing on the following 10 components:
  • Eliminate Capping - Neighborhood schools offer students more opportunities to succeed academically and socially.
  • Instructional Day Priority - Students come first and our service to them is a top priority.
  • Implement Reload and Recovery Strategies - Provide immediate opportunities for recovering units at the earliest indication of failure
  • Attendance Outreach - Staff will visit the homes of all students who do not show up to school at the start of every semester.
  • Master Schedule - Class schedules will be balanced to give all students equitable opportunities and adequate attention.
  • Launch a District Newspaper - Keeping parents and guardians up to date and engaged by informing them of District and school highlights, achievements, and milestones
  • Extension of Instruction Year for Grades 6-9 - Students who have not mastered grade-level standards will attend an extended school year.
  • Experienced Teachers at the Neediest Schools - Through incentives and advanced planning, the most qualified teachers will work at the neediest schools.
  • Give Schools Level Support According to Need - An equitable, tiered system will be used to determine the support and resources provided to a given school.
  • Reconstitution of Failing Schools or Charter or Magnet - Schools that continue to struggle academically may be restructured with input from stakeholders.
