Achieved Here!” is motto of Shandin Hills Middle School.
It is the goal of all of our wonderful
and caring staff members to help your child achieve such
excellence. Here at Shandin, teachers work together to engage
students in a rigorous curriculum. We believe that all our students
can learn, and we have a flexible schedule that includes daily double
blocks of reading and math, as well as double blocks of social studies, science,
electives, and physical education every other day. In addition, we have
tutorials that enhance the curriculum experience. We have extended our academic day for students whose needs require more support in math and language arts.
We follow the Positive Behavior
System and our three overarching rules are “Be Safe, Be Respectful,
and Be Responsible.” To support this system, we have an Advisory Period
where teachers mentor students to help them be successful in middle school.
Our parents are our partners in education participate
in all facets of our school functions. Some examples include AAPAC, English
Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC), School Site Council (SSC), Parent
Involvement Committee, PTO, and our volunteer team of parents. Our students
continue to learn responsibility and leadership skills through our co-curricular
programs, which include Cadet Corps, Advancement Via Individual Determination
(AVID), ASB, Advisory, yearbook, leadership, music, art, Spanish, and
Creative Before- and Afterschool Programs for Success (CAPS).
Ultimately, we want to help our students grow academically and socially,
we want them to be successful and ready for high school, and most importantly,
we want them to develop into responsible and productive citizens.
