Welcome to Middle College High School and Prep 9 Academy!!!

We are home of the Wolverine Carpe Diem Spirit!   MCHS ranks tops in the region with a 3 year API baseline of 895.  In 2013-2014, we enjoyed a 100% graduation rate with all seniors having met A-G requirements with acceptance to 4 year colleges.  The average senior earned 44 college credits and received $17,500 in grants and/or scholarships.  14 MCHS seniors graduated from high school with an AA degree.

SBCUSD created MCHS in partnership with San Bernardino Valley College in 2001 to increase academic success for students who were previously underperforming and/or under-challenged in a traditional high school setting.  MCHS services 10th-12th grade students.  Our smaller class sizes (25) and smaller school setting (under 220) allowed for students to enjoy strong support in a family like setting.  Requiring students to take 2 or more IGETC college courses concurrently each semester with a-g high school coursework (5 classes) increased rigor and the level of challenge.  With our learning model and strong parent partnerships, MCHS eventually earned National Blue Ribbon status, California Distinguished School honors, and numerous state and national recognitions.  Year in and year out, MCHS is recognized as one of America’s Best High Schools, per U.S. News and World Reports.

As an academic alternative, the early/middle college model engages students in rigorous high school a-g coursework along with concurrent college classes that support early college credit and possibly the earning of an AA degree in a supportive, motivational and challenging learning environment.  Students who enjoy learning for the sake of learning, are individuals, value a diverse and family like setting, and who like a challenge tend to thrive.  MCHS is very hard work but a great place for those students who are ready for early college coursework toward their 4 year college career goals.

We look forward to another amazing year of learning, working, and expanding student success!!!  Go Wolverine’s!!!”

Mission Statement: Middle College High School (grades 10-12) and Prep 9 Academy (grade 9), in partnership with SBVC, SBCUSD, and parents will work to ensure each MCHS graduate has met all "a-g" requirements, earns significant college credit, and is fully prepared for success at a four-year college or university of choice.
