Check out J.B. Stephens’ The Big Empty Series—The Big Empty, Paradise City, Desolation Angels, and No Exit!
What happens when a contagious disease runs through the entire country and wipes out over half the population? What would you do if you were the only one left in your family? The Big Empty Series takes begins one year after a devastating plague called “Strain 7” kills three quarters of the human race. Around the world, power systems fail and supply chains screech to a halt. The surviving population of the United States is relocated to the coasts; the heartland becomes a wasteland called The Big Empty. Seven teens, trying to put their lives back together, learn that the abandoned zone holds danger, secrets, and above all, hope.
Ms. Susan Jebbia - Teacher Librarian
I enjoy reading non-fiction literature, and my favorite is John Krakauer’s Into the Wild. Before I became Pacific High School’s teacher librarian, I taught high school English. I am absolutely thrilled to be a Pirate. I am available Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and invite you to visit your school library in C-5 to check out a book, complete homework assignments, conduct research, or use the computers to word process a school project.
Mrs. Diane Thrower - Library Clerk
I like to read mysteries, thrillers, and historical novels. My favorite authors are James Patterson and Patricia Cornwell. In my spare time, I like to garden, and every year I grow my own tomatoes. I have numerous pets, including both cats and dogs. I love working in the library and believe that Pacific’s library is the best place ever!
