DESKTOP PUBLISHER - Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced
The prerequisite for these classes is Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Word Level 1
. Students in the Desktop Publishing classes will be creating portfolios which contain their lessons.
The portfolios will be due at the end of each course. See below for a list of items required for this course.
The beginning class introduces desktop publishing concepts, terminology, and technical skills. Students will be using Printshop 20, MS Publisher 2012 and PhotoShop Elements 7. Students create colorful, eye-catching documents, fliers, business cards, letterhead, event programs and posters. Students will learn the basics of PowerPoint 2010 as well. Student will be introduced to PhotoShop Elements 7 as well as scanning and Batch processing. Students learn how to use various graphics software, scanners, and Pentium computers. A basic working knowledge of computers is required. A Flash Drive is required for this class.
For the Scanning students will need to provide their own printed photos, slides or negatives.
Intermediate Desktop publishing has students learning the tools, effects, and panels of the PhotoShop Elements program. Students will be learning all about layers and how they work. They will be editing photos creating documents using multiple photos on one page, and creating a Panorama Photo project. This course prepares the students for the various projects in the advanced book.
Advanced Desktop Publishing has the students creating movies using Windows Movie Maker; Slide Shows and Storybook using PhotoShop Elements. Students will learn to repair wrinkles, remove glare from photos,
more information about working with layers and the special effects.
Items students will need to purchase for each course :
1 inch clear view binder
Clear Page Protectors ( 30 - 40 for each course)
Paper and pen or pencil for taking notes
4 - 8 GB Flash Drive ( 8GB Flash drive is recommended)
