Program Description
Classes
School for Teaching Academics and Responsibility (STAR) Community Day School is made up of 3 classrooms serving 2nd through 6th grade students.  Each class has one teacher, one instructional aide, and a maximum of 15 students.   The low student-to-adult ratio allows for intensive academic and behavioral instruction to address student academic and behavioral deficits.

San Bernardino City CDS is made up of 6 single-subject classrooms serving 7th through 10th grade students. Each class has one teacher, one instructional aide, and a maximum of 18 students. The low student-to-adult ratio allows for intensive academic and behavioral instruction to address student academic and behavioral deficits.


Classroom Instruction
All students receive the same Common Core Standards-based curriculum instruction as adopted by SBCUSD.

Counseling
School counselors provide students with individual and group counseling in the areas of social skill development, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Insight for drugs and alcohol abuse, anger management, and other areas as needed.

Students and families may be recommended for outside counseling services if it is determined that they may benefit from additional supports.


Parent Support Groups
Parent support groups are being developed to provide parents with useful tools and information as they seek to support their students with behavioral changes.

Transportation
Transportation is provided through the District’s bussing system.
